It's More Than A Feeling

For the record. . .

I am seriously in LOVE with the Punk Goes. . . Series. I'm currently addicted to Punk Goes Classic Rock. Great Covers.

I'm really hoping to go to Warped Tour this year. Mayday Parade is playing amongst a plethora of other bands I rather enjoy.

Just found out the BSB are playing in ATL. . . during Maymester so I can't go. But they're playing in Valdosta too. . . not sure if I can make that one.

I got tacked on another responsibility at work with no pay raise :( I am a Recipe for Service Leader. Basically I help reinforce customer service. But I was promised if I pull this off and there is an attitude change amongst employees then I get a raise. We shall see.

Maymester is really fun. Computer Tech is actually kind of helpful. Bio is awesome. Learning a lot. I guess that's the point of college. . .

Workin' 9 to 5

The semester is finally winding down. Only one more final to go. I pretty much raped my Creative Dramatics Final. I'm pretty pleased with the way the semester ended. I'm just beat. I want so much from everything and I'm not sure when I'm going to get any of it. I'm so career driven and am very passionate about my job. I wish my colleagues felt the same. I understand this position is just a time filler for some, but this is something I want to persue. It's so frustrating, when someone has the job you want and you know you could do it better. But you can't have it because of circumstance.

Christopher proves himself time and time again that he is the man I'm destined to be with. We argue and fight ocassionally but the past 6 months have been absolute bliss with him. I am in love with him and can't wait to be his wife.

I've moved in to my new apartment and it's wonderful. I have my own bathroom and so much space to move around and decorate. It's wonderful.

Work is good. I'm too chicken to ask for a promotion. . . My closing manager is going away to seminary and will no longer be located at our store. So the question remains: will we hire another manager outside the store, promote from within, or make the current managment team pull crazy shifts and make do.

I really want to ask for it but I'm just afraid it will be a waste of breath. I work my butt off at this job and wish people cared as much as I do. When I leave this store I'm not done working, I'm still doing marketing stuff and most of it is for free. I hate it that I'm not appreciated and the times that I am it's because I've saved somebody else's ass. I know I am an asset to this store and that if I were not on the Marketing Team, things would not get done as effectivly as they have been now that I have been put on it.

I want a raise. I want to be a manager. But most importantly I want more from Marketing.

Will I get it?

Think Outside the Bun

Drive Thru- Placing Your Order at the Speaker Part 2
1. When placing your order you request a combination meal number please respond promptly with what beverage you would like to enjoy. We don't wanna ask you. It's a pain. Also don't request a Combination Meal if you only want the entree item and a side. That's not a meal. A meal comes with a beverage, side item, and entree.
2. If you would like water as your choice of beverage please specify if you would like it bottled or tap.
3. If you have listed off all of the items you would like to order, please let the headset person know that you have completed your order in a polite fashion. Awkward silences are no fun for both parties.
4. Do not pull away when the person on headset is speaking. That's rude. How would you like it if we cut the speaker box off while you were talking?

Drive Thru- Arriving at the Window
1. When you arrive at the window please have your money ready for payment. We don't want to waste 2 minutes of our lives waiting on you to locate your debit card. Get your life together and then you may procede to the drive thru. We're never going to get those 2 minutes back. On a good day a drive-thru can do as many as 147 cars in one hour. If we wait for customers on every transaction think how much time you've wasted of ours. We will never get that time back.
2. Greet the person at the window. It's nice :)
3. If the cashier does not ask you for any condiments or sauces and you would like some, politely let them know what kind you would like. Also, we know what you ordered and approximately how much sauce you are going to need with your order. Don't get crazy. You do not need 7 Chick-fil-A sauces with your 8 pack of nuggets.
4. For the record: KETCHUP IS A SAUCE. DO NOT ASSUME WE PUT IT IN THE BAG AUTOMATICALLY.
5. Your straws and napkins are in the bag. I promise.
6. The very popular red sweet and sour sauce that Chick-fil-A carries is called Polynesian Sauce. Please pronounce it correctly. PAUL-A-KNEE-SIAN.

These are the ways that actual customers have called the sauce. . .
*I did not make these up*
*Pomeranian
*Mandarin
*Hawaiian
*Pineapple
*Polapanesian
*Poly-what-sauce
*Sweet and Sowa
*That red sauce

7. Please do not add things at the window. A sandwich is fine, but not a milkshake...

Just so we clarify, Milkshakes are a work of culinary art. They take a bit to make. Here is the process. Grab a cup. Pour in the alloted amount of shake base. Insert proper flavoring. Dispense Ice Dream. Put on a dome lid. Hand Spin. Top with whipped cream and a Cherry.

It takes some effort. Don't order them at the window. Go through the Drive Thru again, or forego the frosty delight. You really don't need the calories anyway.

KEEP CHECKING BACK FOR MORE!

Give Me That Filet-O-Fish, GIMME THAT FISH!

This commercial is constantly playing in my head. . . I don't know why I think it's so funny, but I do. :)

Anywho, after many a bad interaction with inconsiderate customers at the Chick-fil-A, I believe it is high time that I write a blog about drive-thru and fast food etiquette. It's well over-due. I sometimes think that people just don't know that its rude. Let me enlighten you.

Drive-Thru: Placing Your Order at the Speaker
1. When approaching the speaker box, please refrain from listening to your ghetto blasting music. We cannot hear you placing your order.
2. If you drive and obnoxiously large truck with an obnoxiously loud engine, please cut your vehicle off while placing your order.
3. It is not necessary to shout into the box. We can hear you surprisingly well.
4. But please do not whisper into the box, or park your car several feet away from it. We can't hear you and it's annoying to have to ask you to speak up.
5. If for some reason your windows do not roll down, do us a favor and don't come through the drive-thru. We are judging you.
6. DO NOT TALK ON YOUR CELLPHONE WHILE PLACING YOUR ORDER. IT IS RUDE. Most establishments have signs saying to stay off the phone. Do it.
7. If you need a minute to look over the menu, just say so. We typically don't mind. The drive-thru menus are designed in such a way that you should be able to figure out what you want in less than 30 seconds. Should you be an indecisive person in nature, go inside. You're backing up the line.
8. Please place your order in a dialect that is understandable. No, we do not know what "Splender" or "Mayernaz" is. It is pronounced SPLIN-DA and MAYO-NAYZ. Please pronounce them correctly.
9. If you would like something special done to your order, perhaps having things bagged seperatly, well done, or with a certain garden item, please let us know at the box. We will be happy to take care of it when you place your order. It is annoying when we have already prepared your order for you and are handing it to you, but you have waited until the very last minute that you wanted something different.
10. For ridiculously large orders, or a lot of special things that need to be taken care of to your food, go inside. It will be quicker than if you go through the drive-thru, I promise.

More to come later. :)

This is Your Life, Are You Who You Want to Be?

The past few weeks have been rather stressful. But I have to say I am feeling rather accomplished in most aspects of my life.

Hero Night at Chick-fil-A went VERY well. Alex was very pleased and I feel we have re-established ourselves as a family restaurant. HOORAY!

I got to teach a workshop at Junior Thespian Conference. And from it I have been asked to apply for a summer internship in Roswell, Ga at Georgia Ensemble Theatre Conservatory. Hopefully I get it. I'm mailing off my resume today :)

And I'm going to try to activate a new phone this afternoon :) Off to work and class!

Train Up a Child in the Way He Should Go. . .

I'm really concerned about all of the proposed budget cuts that are going on not just at CSU but all University Systems of Georgia. What if they start cutting degree programs? The smaller ones are going to go first. . . Theatre Ed is exceptionally small. And we're the only school in the state that offers it. What am I going to? Do I transfer out of state? Or switch majors? I'm really concerened about my future. It's really scaring me and stressing me out, on top of midterms and projects. I mean education is such an important foundation for the future of America; why should we sacrifice things? There are other programs and things that should be considered before taking away from our education. It's really tough to be a college student right now with the economy the way it is. The only thing that we can rely on is our majors... what will we do if they take that away? We have the right to an education.

I'm just really worried :(

Just Keep Your Eyes On Me And Let Me Be Your Gravity

I want to get married.

It's an odd way to start a blog entry. . . but it's true.

Every time I run into a bookstore or pass a magazine rack, I'm drawn to the bridal literature. I spend my free time looking at dresses, daydreaming about my wedding day, trying to find an alternative to flowers since I loathe them so much. I love looking at engagment rings, fantasizing about what my life will be like when I'm married.

At the same time it scares me.

I'm convinced that Chris is the one. But. . . I don't know. We were talking about plans for the summer (we're both taking maymester courses)and he informed me that after May he will only have 5 courses left including an internship. So his projected graduation date? Spring 2011. Which is when I'm suppose to graduate. Am I? Negative. It'll be at least December. It scares me. . . I doubt very seriously that he will stay in Columbus. It depends on where he will get a job at. I'm aware that this is a year away, but then again its only a year away! What if he goes away and gets a job some place crazy like. . . I don't know Florida? Which is his dream place to live but I'll still be here. In Columbus. Alone. Without him. Look I can barely handle being away from him for a weekend, much less a SEMESTER. Is that obsessive? I am literally miserable when he's away from me. I just want to spend every day for the rest of my life by his side. And that's where I belong. I know some of you are remembering that we haven't dated for very long. . . but when you know, you know. I know it's cliche, but I have NEVER felt this way before. My parents came down to visit me on Friday and we went to dinner with Chris. When he left my mom said that when she watches the two us bicker and argue and eventually make up in the end for our stupid little fights, it reminds her of herself and my dad. They didn't date for very long either, and then got married. Granted after they got engaged my mom got prego so they kind of had to rush the wedding a wee bit.

Anyway, I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him. I've never been so sure of something.

Work is going well. Being an Assistant Marketing Director is quite time consuming and stressful but I still love my job. Just wished it paid more.

I'm super stoked about moving out. Heather, Lindsey, and myself will either be getting a house or an apartment the first of May.

School is great :)

Besame Para Siempre :)

Right now seems like an opportune time to blog. Considering I have an hour till my next class and my fingers are frozen :)

Any who, this past week/ weekend was probably the best ones I've had in a long time. At work I got the opportunity to prove to my boss that I am leadership material and had some quality one on one time with him, explaining my career goals and what I want out of Chick-fil-A. I feel like I made some much needed progress. A few days later I was approached by him to attend our new marketing team meeting today. I'm not sure what time it's at but luckily I have to be there at 3:00 to work anyway. Excited does not even begin to cover how thrilled I am about this. I immediately set to work on coming up with creative marketing ideas and ploys to help bring in more revenue for our store and of course, make our store a community hot spot. A mere hour later one of my dear assistant managers came up to me and asked me if I was interested in a supervisor or management position. I informed him that after going on three years of working with this company NOTHING would thrill me more than to be considered. He let me know that he was going to speak with our boss and recommend me for a position :) HOORAY!

After kicking ass at work I got to hang out with Christopher. We packed our bags and headed up to Atlanta on Saturday for a weekend full of doing fun touristy things. I'll put some pictures up later. We started at the first Chick-fil-A restaurant ever created. For those of you who are behind on your history, it was originally called the Dwarf Grill founded by Truett Cathy. The next one to open would be the Chick-fil-A located in Greenbriar Mall. Anyway it was really cool because it was identical to Truett's Grill menus :) So I got my delicious Hot Brown and crushed ice. YAY!

We continued our journey up to the High Museum of Art and saw a bunch of really cool sculptures, paintings, and even furniture. I have to admit though, I was a bit disappointed because the DaVinci exhibit was there but it was all of his sketches from his inventions. AND EVERYONE WAS THERE. Ridiculous.

After leaving the High (and nearly dying from slipping on ice), we headed over to The World of Coca-Cola which is the place that manufactures the product responsible for my addiction. It was super cool! I had been to the old one before they moved it to Pemberton Place but this one was equally cool. Chris and I tried 64 different Coke products from all over the world. Some were good, some were disgusting. Specifically the Beverly from Italy. Why anyone would purchase such a beverage is beyond me! We got free souvenir Coke bottles and then headed out to go the place that I have been aching to go to since it open.

In case you didn't know, the Georgia Aquarium is home to the largest aquarium in the world which holds 6.3 million gallons of water. They don't use glass to hold back the fishies; Acryllic is 17 times stronger than glass and the stuff they use is 2 feet thick. They have four Whale Sharks which are like 20 something feet long, but guess what? THEY ARE ONLY BABIES! They are going to double in size! Wicked crazy. It was super fun. We saw Nemo and Dory and some cute sea otters. I pet some Sting Rays. Chris wanted me to pet the sharks but I REFUSED. I had a blast and got TONS of pictures.

Then we checked in to the gorgeous Hyatt Place hotel and got all dressed up to go to the Old Spagetti Factory. Delicious. We went and got ice cream at the amazing Zesto's which has the best soft serve ice cream I've ever tasted. Headed back to the hotel, watched SVU and went to sleep. We woke up the next day to find that the Zoo was closed because of the weather. LAME. We went on the CNN Studio Tour which was pretty cool. . . when I was in middle school. LOL It was ok. Then we went to the Varsity and ate. Afterwards we headed over to the Fernback and looked at some pretty wicked dinosaurs and played with little kid science experiment things. It's kind of geared for a smaller audience. We left, walked around Atlantic Station for literally five minutes and then headed back to Columbus because it was too cold.

Needless to say I had an amazing weekend and I love Chris for giving me such an amazing Christmas Present. I had a BLAST. But now school is back in session. I was late for my 9:00 AM because Giselle is in the shop and I had to take the shuttle, which I of course missed. Luckily I was only 5 minutes late. And now I'm off to my 11 Am which is Spanish. Then back downtown for Creative Dramatics at 1:00. Then to work! YAY! Will post more tomorrow with pictures!
